Mastery is a set of challenges for each Toon. The reward for completion is the Toon's Vintage Skin, and Mastery on certain Toons is a requirement to purchase others. (as of ver 0.1.0.3) The loading menu suggests that additional lore will be unlocked through Mastery in future updates.
Uses[]
Uses for Mastery are:
- Obtaining Toon Skins
- Prerequisite to buy a Toon
Description[]
Each Toon comes with 6 quests to accomplish known as "Mastery quests". The tasks can be things like traveling a certain distance, surviving a number of Floors, or finishing a number of Machines. The quests are usually catered to the Toon's specific strengths and Abilities. Completing all 6 Mastery quests on a Toon grants their Vintage Skin. All vintage skins change the Toon's color palette to monochrome and add highlight slits to their eyes (similar to old cartoons). However, the Vintage Skins are not a 1:1 greyscale version of their normal colors and often modify their brightness; if the Toon was already black and white (Such as Toodles), most or all colors will change shades. Once Mastery is obtained, the Toon will gain two small, yellow sparkles on the top-right corner of their icon in the Toons menu. Mastery quests for any particular Toon only gain progress while that specific Toon is being used.
Certain Toons require you to complete or partially complete Mastery on another Toon before you can purchase them. For example, you must fully master Brightney to be able to purchase
Vee. This means you must complete all 6 quests for Brightney (which requires purchasing her) to fulfill that unlock requirement.
You can see your Mastery by going to 'Toons' (in the Lobby) then clicking on the character, then clicking on 'Mastery' or clicking 'Stats' in a run. Alternatively, you can also check your Mastery by checking the Mastery TV inside the elevator during a run. Once you have completed Mastery, you must click 'CLAIM' (a green button underneath the characters Mastery) to claim their Vintage skin.
Mastery is frequently onerous to acquire on a Main Character.

Strategies[]
This will give you tips to complete the most frequent mastery quests that usually show up for a Toon. For more detailed tips on how to complete a specific quest for a specific Toon, go to their own articles instead.
- Pick up/Use x items:
- For this quest, it's recommended to use Trinkets that grants you items right at the start like
Fishing Rod or
Crayon Set.
- It's also a good idea to have a Toon joining you that can help you get more items like
Cocoa or
Yatta, or a Toon that can help you find items quicker like
Pebble,
Coal or
Bassie.
- Priortize the Gumballs and Box o' Chocolates items for the use x items quests, since they will provide more uses for an item.
- For this quest, it's recommended to use Trinkets that grants you items right at the start like
- Travelling x amount of meters:
- Just equip speed trinkets (recommend
Clown Horn and another Trinket like
Speedy Shoes,
Dog Plush or
Pink Bow), and move around the first floor as much as possible without leaving the floor.
- If the Toon you need to complete this quest has 3+ Stars in Movement Speed, you can also try to distract for your team to make it less boring.
- Just equip speed trinkets (recommend
- Uses a Toon's Active ability x amounts of times:
- Just equip both
Ghost Snakes In A Can and
Sweet Charm and try to use your ability as much as possible.
- Vote on the cards Rehearsal and Practice can also help to reduce the Toon's active ability cooldown.
- If the Toon you need to complete this mastery quest is a healer Toon, try to invite someone in a duo run and ask them to take as many hits as possible.
Poppy and
Looey are more recommended for this as they have a quest to activate their passive abilities, which requires them to lose a Heart.
- Just equip both
- Survive x floors/Reach floor x:
- Just try to find a good team to go to the highest floor as you can faster.
- Experience x Blackouts (only on some light-producing Toons):
- Similar to the quest above, but try not to vote on the Electrician card.
- It's also easier to progress on this one on the day that
Twisted Brightney occupies the Daily Twisted Board, since her appearance can increase the chance of Blackouts occuring on the floors she resides in.
- Encounter x Twisteds:
- Similar to survive x floors, just try to encounter as many Twisteds as you can as you go through each floor.
- Finish x Machines:
- It's recommended to use extraction or skill check Trinkets for this, like
Vee's Remote,
Magnifying Glass,
Participation Award, etc. to extract machines much faster.
- Vote on Tech Savvy card whenever you get a chance to to speed up the quest progression even more.

Trivia[]
- As of August 14th, 2024, one of
Pebble's Mastery requirements was changed from 'activate this Toon's Passive Ability 30 times' to 'encounter 80 Twisteds.' Those who had mastered Pebble still retained access to his Vintage Skin, but the sparkles disappeared from his icon until he was fully re-mastered.
- Before the update, Pebble and
Poppy were the only Toons requiring passive Abilities to be used for Mastery requirements.
- Before the update, Pebble and
Pebble,
Bobette, &
Bassie's Mastery requirement of reaching Floor 20 is widely considered to be the hardest Mastery requirement in the game.
Goob,
Sprout,
Coal,
Yatta,
Flyte,
Cocoa and
Blot are the only Toons that require you to have another Toon with them for a certain amount of Floors, with the required Toons being
Scraps,
Cosmo,
Pebble,
Looey,
Flutter, Yatta and Looey respectively.
- Blot, Goob and Sprout require Mastery on the latter to be obtained while Coal, Yatta, Flyte, and Cocoa do not.
- Blot's Mastery quest of having Yatta and Looey survive a certain amount of Floors with him is the only occurence of a Toon requiring 2 Toons present for this type of Mastery.
- Additionally, they must both be present for the Mastery quest to progress.
Pebble,
Shelly,
Sprout,
Tisha, and
Vee are the only Toons that don't require the usage of Items.
- However, all of these Toons do still require you to pick up Items.
- Tisha is the only non-Main Character Toon that doesn't need Item usage, and
Astro is the only Main Character that does require Item usage.
- The Skins that are obtained from these quests are the original skins, before the introduction of skins available in Dandy's Store.
- Here is a list of every Toon that requires Mastery on another Toon to unlock.
Shelly requires 100% Mastery on
Tisha.
Pebble requires 100% Mastery on
Toodles.
Sprout requires 100% Mastery on
Cosmo.
Vee requires 100% Mastery on
Brightney.
Goob requires 50% Mastery on
Scraps.
- This is the only occurrence of 50% Mastery being required for a Toon, compared to the usual 100%.
Looey requires 100% Mastery on
Poppy.
Blot requires 100% Mastery on both Looey and Yatta.
Astro is the first Main Character Toon that doesn't require Mastery on another Toon, instead he requires an encounter with
Twisted Dandy.
Pebble,
Rodger,
Vee,
Teagan, and
Scraps are the only Toons with Masteries that require you to encounter a certain amount of Twisteds.
Looey ,
Blot and
Goob are the only non-Main Character Toons that require Mastery on another Toon(s) to unlock.
- Mastery can currently be checked on a TV in the Elevator and opening your STATS button.
Shrimpo has one of the more annoying Masteries, as his abysmal extraction speed makes completing the required 30 Machines extremely slow.
- This can be made much easier by equipping Vee's Remote.
Cocoa is the first and only Toon to have a Mastery requirement to use a specific item, that being
BonBon.
- Blot is the first and only Toon who requires Mastery on two different Toons to be obtained, that being Looey and Yatta. Additionally, he is also the first and only Toon to require two Toons present in a run for a Mastery Quest, also being Looey and Yatta.
