The Heart icon to represent a Toon's Health.

Health is a mechanic in Dandy's World. Health functions using Hearts, which can be viewed in the lower left corner of the screen. At the start of a run, you will gain the maximum number of Hearts, and once depleted, your Toon will die and you won't be able to play for the rest of the run. At this point, you can either spectate others or go back to the lobby to play again.

Regular Toons have a maximum of 3 Hearts, while Main Characters only have a maximum of 2 Hearts. However, Soulvester Render Soulvester is an exception, because his Passive Ability gives him one extra heart, being a total of 4 hearts.

Losing Hearts

One Heart is lost every time a Twisted strikes you in any way, unless a Lethal Twisted hits you (Twisted Dandy Render Twisted Dandy and Twisted Dyle Render Twisted Dyle), where all Hearts are lost. The only other way to lose Hearts is by playing as Cosmo Render Cosmo or Ginger Render Ginger and using your ability, which sacrifices one of your own Hearts to heal a selected teammate.

Not reaching the Elevator before the Panic Mode timer runs out ignores the Health system and instantly kills any Toon outside the elevator when it closes.

Restoring Hearts

There are currently 7 ways to gain Hearts:

  • Bandage Bandage (Restores one heart for the user; single use.)
    • Can be picked up from the floor by Bassie Render Bassie and given to players, found on the floor, obtained using Gigi Render Gigi, or buying them for 60 tapes (54 with Frugal) and (30 with Dandy Plush Dandy Plush) at Dandy's Shop.
  • Health Kit Health Kit (Fully restores Health to the maximum number of Hearts for the user; single use.)

Trivia

  • The only method of surviving being depleted of Health is by equipping the Savory Charm Savory Charm Trinket. However, attacks from Lethal Twisteds and being caught outside of the Elevator at the end of Panic Mode ignore Savory Charm's effects.
  • It is currently impossible to lose Hearts while inside the Elevator, unless it is by using Cosmo Render Cosmo's or Ginger Render Ginger's Ability while the Elevator is open.
    • However, in rare cases, Twisteds can actually damage you if you get too close to the entrance.
  • Pebble Render Pebble used to directly interact with the health system. His previous Passive Ability, Survival Instincts, would give himself a 25% boost in Stamina and Stealth, but it only lasted as long as he was on one Heart.
  • Soulvester Render Soulvester has the highest Health in the game, being 4 Hearts.
    • However, Dandy Render Dandy and Dyle Render Dyle have the highest (99 hearts), as they are only playable by the game's developers.
