The Show

Dandy's World was a children's television show featuring the Main Toons as well as the other side Toons. The show may have been created sometime in 1987, after the Gardenview Entertainment was founded back in 1984, but before the Toons were created in the same year and in 1988 as well. This makes it possible that the Toons are based off their personalities off their television counterparts considering the unknown nature of their relationship with their television versions. Some in-game dialogue (such as between Scraps Render Scraps and Vee Render Vee) references the Show as if the Toons themselves lived in it, muddling their real-world and TV continuities together. But, as seen in dialogue between Astro Render Astro and Connie Render Connie, the Toons know about the Show's existence. However, it is unknown if they recall episodes as their own memories.

There were Four known Seasons, with at most fifteen episodes in each Season, airing from around 1987 (being the earliest year known so far), to 2002, after Gardenview Center closed down.

Main Premise

According to a note written by Arthur Walton, the Show demonstrated strong values to children. Most of the notes are covered in Ichor, but this note might read as:

"I ask for a lot especially on short notice you know. But I understand the importance of companionship and friendship. That is what the Show teaches most, after all!"

Merchandise & Other Media

Throughout the Show's run, multiple pieces of merchandise were sold in the Gardenview Gift Shop. Albeit, in small print on the Dandy Plush Dandy Plush marketing poster, it mentions how Dandy's WorldTM products contain materials which may cause health effects in sensitive individuals. Refunds were not eligible after purchasing any product. Gardenview Entertainment was not liable for any health concerns created by the products listed in the catalogue.

Plushies

The Plushies are small, soft versions of the Toons sold in the Gift Shop. These came in two sizes, either a normal sized Plushie or a small sized Plushie.

List of Plushies

Trading Cards

It is likely that these cards were a part of a strategy-based card game with different pieces of artwork and colors for Toons. There are currently 6 different colors that may represent a card's 'type', but it is unknown what these 'types' are.

Puzzle Boxes

The puzzle boxes are jigsaw puzzles, which contain printed versions of the posters onto the pieces.

Trivia

  • "Showtime Panic" can be considered a lost Episode of the Show in-universe.
    • Due to what was said in the city newspaper, Gardenview Center closed on June 29th, 2002, before the Episode was set to play on July 21st, 2002.
    • It could be possible that the Episode still aired even after Gardenview Center closes. Even with Gardenview closed, Arthur Walton still could've worked with Delilah Keen to create more Episodes. However, since the Artist Floors are where the Show was worked on, the Show would've been cancelled.
  • The Tapes most likely contain recordings of the Dandy's World Show, as it seems that they are what calm down Dandy Render Dandy and prevents him from becoming Twisted Dandy Render Twisted Dandy.
    • Despite this, none of the TVs in Gardenview Center have a VCR that would have been used to play or record the VHS Tapes. However, in v0.6.4, a TV cart with a VCR was added into the elevator, though it remains unusable. There are no VCRs for other televisions found around the maps.
      • When the Artist Floors were added, they had the same TV cart with a VCR placed all around the maps with some inside of inaccessible rooms.
    • This can also be said for the projectors, which would have to be hooked up to a VCR in order to project the Episodes.
      • This can be seen in Razzle & Dazzle Render Razzle & Dazzle's room in Roleplay, where they have a bunch of Tapes next to a projector. Without anything else in their room that can be used to play the Tapes, it must only be the projector.
  • The Rehearsal and Practice Cards both have an icon of a script which might be a transcript for any of the Episodes for the Show, making it more likely the Toons are voicing their show counterparts.
  • "Stage Fright" and "Vee Render Vee and Shelly Render Shelly Future and Past" are the only Episode Posters that have no airing dates, but can be assumed that Stage Fright to have aired between 2000 and 2002 since it shares the same title structure (Toon's Name/s in Episode Name) as "Day Out" and "Showtime Panic", which aired on April 8th, 2001, and July 21st, 2002, respectively. It is unknown when Future and Past had aired since it doesn't share any title structures of the other episodes.
  • "Argumentative Woes", "Snowy Adventure", "Spring Flowers", "Astro's Dream Land", "Cooking Chaos" and "Holloway Haunting" are the only five Episode Posters that use "and" instead of "&" when naming starring Toons.
    • "Cooking Chaos" is the only Poster with a capital "a" in the word "and".
    • "Snowy Adventure" was changed from "&" to "and" when its artworks was redrawn.
  • "Winning Big" and "Argumentative Woes" are the only two Episodes that might match up with known Season and Episode numbers, when compared to storyboards with the same characters and similar stories.
  • On all the emotions sheets, there is some type of code reading 25719-AG. AG most likely stands for Animation Guide, but it is currently unknown what 25719 is supposed to mean.
  • All of the 'words' in the storyboards are scribbles, and it isn't clear what any of the Toons are saying besides punctuation marks.
  • Goob Render Goob is the only Toon to be represented by two different colors in storyboards, these colors being red and blue.
  • The Gourdy Render Gourdy decorating TV animation is currently the longest animation in the game, at 1 minute and 7 seconds long.
  • The Vee Render Vee's Gameshow TV animation, Sprout Render Sprout & Cosmo Render Cosmo baking TV animation, the Vee's Gameshow with Scraps Render Scraps and Brightney Render Brightney, and the Gourdy decorating TV animations are the only animations that show static at the end in order to make the animation loop.
  • Sprout is the only Main who is not featured in any Episode Posters, even though he is stars in "Cooking Chaos"
  • Sprout, Bobette Render Bobette, Bassie Render Bassie, and Gourdy are the only Mains who don't have an emotion sheet.
  • Pebble Render Pebble, Bobette, Bassie, Gourdy are the only Mains that have not been featured in any storyboards.
  • The Season 2 Episode 6 storyboard is the first storyboard to have text. However, it is not dialogue from any of the Toons, but instead for salt and sugar bags.
  • Shelly seems to be the least popular Main of the Show, since almost none of her plushies were sold besides three, meaning she is unpopular among children.
  • Pebble's normal sized plushie is the same size as his Toon counterpart.
  • The Show uses the game's title design, as seen on the Trading Card booster pack and the on the back of the Cards.
  • The Trading Cards' designs are a fusion of Pokémon Trading Card Game and Magic: The Gathering Cards. [1]
  • Astro and Razzle & Dazzle's Trading Cards share the same purple color, likely meaning that they are the same Type/Element, but it is unknown what it is.
  • Despite Vee's Gameshow animation being her hosting her gameshow, it is not part of the Episode "Winning Big" due to Scraps not being a contestant in it or even shown.
  • In Season 2 Episode 8, the shape of Scraps' head in the storyboard is an octagon instead of a hexagon.
  • In the Season 1 Episode 3 storyboard, the opening of Shelly Render Shelly's head is missing.
  • The Dandy Popsicle is a reference to the SpongeBob Popsicle with the same out-of-place gumball eyes.
  • The Dandy Plush Dandy Plush and Pop Pack Pop Pack are the only in-game merchandises that are also used as Trinkets.
  • The Dandy plushie was designed based off a previous version of Twisted Dandy where his stomach was torn apart, which is why there is stitching on the plushie version's stomach. [2]
    • This design choice would be used with the other plushies, with them also having stitching on their stomachs.
  • Goob's Special Spaghetti skin is a reference to his food item found on Diner menus.
  • "Stage Fright" has the most Toons to appear in a single Episode, with 12 to 13. This is because 10 to 11 of them are background characters for the Episode .
  • Rudie Render Rudie, Ginger Render Ginger, Coal Render Coal, and Bobette had all appeared in the Show during its Christmas Specials; Bobette and Coal likely being in the first one.
  • The TV animations were made in Flipaclip by @lysteral. [3]
  • "Snowy Adventure" is the oldest known Episode of the Show, dating back to December 25th, 1990.
    • "Snowy Adventure" is also the only Episode that is most likely in Season 1 with an airing date.
  • The Razzle & Dazzle and Shelly projector animations are the only animations that contain 2 frames flashing back and forth.
    • Due to them only being made up of 2 frames each, Qwel was the one that made the projector animations. [4]
  • The Poppy Render Poppy Pop Pop most likely has multiple flavors due to the vending machine having different colored buttons, which are probably for the different flavours. It is currently unknown what these flavours could be, or if there even are different flavours.
  • In the "Snowy Adventure" Episode Poster, Bobette is holding a candy cane that is completely white, missing its presumably red stripe.
  • The Teddy Bear can be found in Flavor Frenzy on the Cursed Embers Map, seen inside of a framed portrait being held by the Second Phase version of Mothmallow.
  • The Astro Render Astro plushie Bassie plushie and the Shelly plushie each have an inconsistency, with the Astro plushie has a light blue body under his blanket instead of the black shorts Astro wears, the Shelly plushie having overalls with buttons instead of a pinafore with no buttons, and the Bassie plushie is missing her green striped socks.
    • The Astro plushie was made prior to Astro's design change, though it still should have had a navy-blue body as seen on Twisted Astro Render Twisted Astro instead of light blue.
    • The Care Bears Collab versions of their plushies don't have these differences since Shelly has a skirt and Astro has his shorts.
  • Bassie, Cocoa Render Cocoa, Eggson Render Eggson and Flyte Render Flyte had all appeared in the Show during its Easter Specials; Bassie and Eggson likely being in the first one.
  • Cocoa is the first non-Main who has a plushie version of themselves.
    • This is most likely because of Delilah Keen wanting Cocoa to replace Bassie as the Easter Main, though this is unconfirmed.
    • In contrast to that, Bobette is the first Main Character to not have a plushie version of herself. But in v0.14.1 she received a plushie of herself.
  • "The Vee Virus" is the only Episode Poster that doesn't list who is starring in the Episode .
  • Some of the arcade machines are references to real games.
    • The "DANCE DANCE TOON" arcade machine is a reference to Dance Dance Revolution.
    • The gameplay on the "Swimmy Barnaby!" arcade machine screen looks similar to Flappy Bird gameplay.
      • However, Flappy Bird didn't exist until May 2013.
  • In the "DANCE DANCE TOON" arcade machine, Yatta Render Yatta's feet are colored yellow even though they are pink.
  • Some Toons share the same colors in the storyboards:
  • "Stage Fright", "Showtime Panic", "Day Out", "Vee & Shelly Future and Past", and "Snowy Adventure"are the only Episode Posters, so far, to have their artworks revamped.
    • The revamped artwork for "Stage Fright" and "Future and Past" still doesn't have an airing date, but added in Looey and Razzle & Dazzle into the Poster.
    • The revamped artwork for "Day Out" changed the date of its airing from April 14th, 2001 to April 8th, 2001.
    • The revamped artwork for "Vee & Shelly Future and Past" changed its title of the episode and dropped the word "in" so it went from "Vee and Shelly in Past and Future " to "Vee & Shelly Vee & Shelly Future and Past".
    • The revamped artwork for "Snowy Adventure" changed the order of who stars in the episode from Starring Bobette and Dandy to Starring Dandy and Bobette.
  • In the "Swimmy Barnaby!" sign artwork, Finn Render Finn didn't have his chipped tooth.
    • In v0.10.2, the artwork was fixed, adding in Finn's chipped tooth.
  • The Artist Floors are where the animators created Episodes for the Show with storyboards, Episode Posters, plushies, and artist desks around the maps. They also probably had meetings to discussed funding for the Show, its popularity and plots for the Episodes.
  • Despite the original Poster being updated, the Brightney, Scraps, Flutter, and Poppy jigsaw puzzle still uses the old artwork of the "Brightney, Scraps, Flutter and Poppy" Poster.
  • On the Season 2 Episode 7 storyboard, there is no space between "Season" and "2", writing as "SEASON2".
  • In v0.11.1, the artwork of the 2 Menus in the Diner were revamped and the Toodles Coconut Water was the only item replaced with a different item, that being Toodles Chocolate Balls.
  • Dyle Render Dyle is the only Toon who does not appear in the Show, but he does want to join the show as shown in the 042-Radio Transcript.
  • Many things were confirmed through Dandy's Gossip dialogues about the Show.
    • Some Toons were created before they debuted in the Show and had a personality change after debuting.
      • The only known Toons created before debuting in the Show are Brusha Render Brusha and possibly Dandy.
    • Blot was mute in the Show even though his Toon counterpart can speak, albeit backwards.
    • Despite his Toon counterpart not wanting to, Looey is the Leader of the Circus Troupe.
      • Yatta is the only Circus Trouper to not have anything revealed about her in the Show.
  • "Cooking Chaos" is so far the first and only Poster without any Main Characters in it, despite starring Sprout in the Episode.
  • Seasons 1 and 2 have odd pacing, with Season 1 taking an astonishing 6 years to finish an unknown amount of Episodes and Season 2 possibly having only 8 Episodes over a 5 year period. But Season 3 has a better pacing with 15 Episodes over a course of 2 years with each Episode airing monthly. There might be a missing Season 0 which would help fix the odd pacing of Seasons 1 and 2. Since more information about the Show releases each minor Update, this odd pacing could be fixed.
    • Season 3 is the only Season where the Episode's number and the month and year of it's airing can be assumed by using the Episode Poster's dates.
  • When the Care Bears Collab happened, 3 new plushies were released that were based off of the 3 new Skins for Astro, Shelly and Shrimpo Render Shrimpo.
    • This is the first time a plushie was based on a regular Toon with no lore reason to why they have a plushie version of themselves.
    • It is confirmed that the Collab doesn't make Care Bears canon to the Dandy's World universe in any way.[5] Also, the Skin designs are based on Care Bears: Unlock the Magic which released in 2019, years after when Dandy's World takes place.
      • This makes the plushies the first ever non-canon ones.
  • Eclipse Render Eclipse, Gourdy, Ribecca Render Ribecca and Soulvester Render Soulvester had all appeared in the Show during its Halloween Specials; Gourdy likely being in the first one.
    • Originally, Connie was first featured in a Halloween Special some time before 1997 but was later moved to be featured in the main line of Episodes in the Show due to her popularity.
      • Eclipse was introduced sometime after Connie was removed from the Halloween cast.
  • There are 2 unknown Pumpkin Toons who are Mr & Mrs Holloway, Gourdy's parents, and it is unknown if they were in the show or not as they have not shown up or they could have only appeared in Gardenview only.
  • "Holloway Haunting" is the first Episode title to have a Toon's last name in it, being Gourdy's last name.
  • The Bobette and Coal walking animation is the first animation to be reanimated.
