Brightney the Lamp, also known as Brightney, is one of the 32 playable Toons in Dandy's World, added on June 14th, 2024. She is available to be bought in Dandy's Store.

Appearance

Brightney is a rose-red scalloped bell lampshade with a white trim on top. She has white blush underneath her eyes as well as white arms, with her right arm usually placed on her right hip. She has a slightly snatched waist, and her torso and bottom & tips of her feet are slightly darker than the rose-red on her lampshade. Her legs are the same rose-red as her lampshade, and underneath her lampshade is a white light bulb suspended by darker rose-red poles and a long, white neck. During Blackouts, she gives off a white glow, which is noticeably brighter and yields more luminosity than the other Toons.

Personality

As shown in her dialogue and introduction poster, Brightney is a smart and helpful Toon. Like her active Ability suggests, she is skilled at solving problems, as well as helping Toons out. However, it's likely that she may be overworked at times.

Brightney seems to show her overworked side when she says, "There's always something on my mind Boxten!", and "Always have to be three steps ahead of those Twisteds!" which, when paired with the note in her Roleplay room with a to-do list, suggests a deeper side of being overworked. Despite this, she's always ready to help with whatever her fellow Toons ask of her, showing her personality as a hardworking, yet friendly toon. However, she doesn't get it when she's compared to animals, like in Finn or Shelly's interactions with her.

Mastery Strategies

  • For the 1st mastery quest, you can go in a run, and whenever a Blackout occurs, try to use the ability as much as you can on the Blackout floor.
  • For the 2nd mastery quest, equip extraction trinkets like Vee’s Remote or Magnifying Glass and focus on extracting as many machines as you can.
  • For the 3rd mastery quest, equip Movement Speed Trinkets such as Dog Plush or Pink Bow and walk around the floor as much as possible.
  • For the 4th mastery quest, just do multiple runs and progress through floors until you find Blackouts. In addition, avoid choosing the electrician Card, as it will only make it less likely you will receive a blackout.
  • For the 5th and 6th mastery quest, just go on multiple runs and try to collect as many Items as you can.

Strategies

Brightney is a great All-Around Toon who is best utilized by those familiar with the game. It's recommended to use her if you feel confident in your skills, as her biggest drawback, while potent, can be turned into a strength if used well. Her low stealth can also be used to save Toons who have a harder time getting out of chases, such as Gigi, Rodger, and Vee.

Brightney works best during Blackouts. Her active ability, Night Light, is an incredibly useful Blackout-exclusive tool. It counters the primary threat of Blackouts, information loss, and helps teammates stay alive in the dangerous environment. Brightney's light during Blackouts is also notably brighter and larger than all other Toons, granting her high visibility and giving teammates a great source of light. Brightney is ultimately the best Toon for countering Blackouts (though Vee comes close), and can be crucial in helping the team.

Brightney's Blackout-countering ability, high extraction, and above-average mobility makes her one of, if not the best Toon for solo runs, as her low stealth becomes nearly (but not completely) a non-factor with the absence of other players dragging Twisteds to your location. It is recommended to use run speed Trinkets to bolster survivability as her Extraction is already good. On later Floors, knowing which Twisteds are present and their locations is crucial for knowing how to tackle the Floor.

Not every Floor is a Blackout, but Brightney can still be useful outside them. She has a great stat pool, with high Stamina and Extraction Speed at the cost of Stealth. To counteract her poor Stealth, Brightney can use her high Stamina to dash in and out of dangerous situations. Additionally, Brightney can temporarily help with diverting Twisteds using her high Stamina and low Stealth to help lure the Twisteds away from other Toons. With high skill, she can even be used to distract normal Twisteds indefinitely, and can distract most Twisteds as well.

Despite Brightney's over-average stats, her 1 Star Stealth may be both an advantage and a disadvantage. On one hand, it's way easier to bring Twisteds to Distractors (namely Pebble) since they'll lock onto you until you get out of their sight in most cases. On the other, you could get unneeded attention of dangerous Twisteds that are wandering around or being distracted, especially Main Character Twisteds. The ones you should take most caution around are Twisted Pebble, Twisted Coal (If present in a Blackout), Twisted Bobette, and Twisted Vee since the prior three have almost the same speed as you, which will make them extremely hard to even outrun due to Brightney's 3 Star Movement Speed. The latter's ability will reduce your speed, making escapes difficult. If you want to extract safely, check your surroundings and Distractor's location frequently to avoid getting cornered.

Brightney is one of the Toons with no best set of Items. She can mostly be used as a blank slate due to her above-average stats. However, there are a few good pieces of advice:

  • Stamina-restoring items are useful, as they'll help to maintain her above-average Stamina.
  • Healing items are always useful, so it's good to keep any you find. If you're not used to her abysmal Stealth, taking hits is near-guaranteed.

Trinket Combinations

Some good Trinket sets for Brightney include:

Mobility

  • Pink Bow/Options
    • This trinket enables Brightney to outrun all twisteds before Panic Mode as well as luring them away from teamates (26.9 run speed). Here are some options to pair Pink Bow with: Speedy Shoes, to further improve run speed (28.2 run speed); Vanity Mirror, to outrun every twisted during Panic Mode (35 run speed); Magnifying Glass or Vee's Remote, to help with floor progression; etc.

Extraction

It is NOT recommended to use Diary or Scrapbook as it works by multiplying Stealth by a percentage and will provide no stat changes for Brightney as her Stealth value is 0.
