Boxten the Music Box, also known as Boxten, is one of the 33 playable Toons in Dandy's World, added on June 14th, 2024, either obtainable for free as the player's starting Toon, or purchasable in Dandy's Store for 250 Ichor if Poppy is chosen instead.

Appearance

Boxten is a purple music box with a dark purple lid. Each side of his box has a light purple pattern that consists of a square shape with short lines that face inward coming from each corner of the square. He has a dark purple torso in the same colour as his lid and wears a blue bandana around his neck as well as trousers that match the colour of his bandana with two darker blue stripes.

Personality

Boxten is a shy and introverted Toon. He is somewhat pessimistic and worries more than he should, as shown in one of his interactions with Poppy and some of his dialogue. He also wants to learn things, tries to be careful, and is afraid of messing things up, based on his interaction with Cosmo. It seems that Boxten is one of Vee's biggest fans. He also seems to be a slight perfectionist, as proven.

Mastery Strategies

• For the first task, use Vee's Remote or other Extracting Trinkets to extract fast. You can also ask someone to prime all the Machines and finish them yourself.
• For the second task, just play the game normally
• For the third task, equip Dog Plush and Clown Horn and walk/run around the map. Invite some Toons to make this faster if you want.
• For the fourth and sixth task, go around the map and collect all the Items on the Floor and repeat. You can also invite some Toons to make this faster. Prioritise Gumballs and Box O' Chocolates as they let you use more items.
• For the fifth task, keep joining runs with the amount of people. If too many people die, either try to finish another task or join a new run. Try to find runs with Toons capable of surviving. A distractor’s presence will make this very easy.

Strategies

Boxten's strength lies in Extraction. His Extraction Speed ranges from 1.06 to 1.48; this makes it above average at its lowest and only 0.02 away from 5 Extraction at its highest. This makes him a good choice to earn Ichor through Machines when starting out. However, since he is heavily dependent on teammates for maximum Extraction Speed, if you prefer playing with a small team (1-4 players), other Toons such as Glisten, Yatta, or Vee will be better suited in this occasion. His Ability allows access to near 5 Star Extraction early, but since these Stats are obtainable without using the ability slot (which is a source of bonus Ichor), it's similar to playing without any ability at all. Worse than that is the fact that his ability relies on factors out of your control, which makes Boxten outclassed by a lot of Toons.

His average Stat spread means that while he has no true deficits, he also doesn't have the most potent strengths. Supplementing your personal weaknesses with Trinkets is best while using him.

It's recommended to use Boxten in games with a lot of Toons to get the most value out of his ability. Though, he is not the greatest for solo runs, due to his ability relying solely on other teammates.

Extraction

• Magnifying Glass/Options
  • Vee's Remote - This set allows for quicker Floor progression, especially if teammates also carry Vee's Remote.
  • Participation Award - This set speeds up machine completion by maximising Skill Check extraction.

Mobility

• Pink Bow/Options
  • This trinket enables Boxten to outrun all Twisteds before Panic Mode (26.9 run speed). Here are some options to pair Pink Bow with:
  • Speedy Shoes, to further improve run speed (28.1 run speed);
  • Vanity Mirror, to outrun every twisted during Panic Mode (35 run speed);
  • Any of the trinkets in the Extraction Section, to help with floor progression; etc.

Trivia

• At the end of the Meet Boxten Teaser Video, you can hear morse code that translates to "FIND THE TAPES."
  • This is also one of the texts that can appear when you start a new run (at the bottom of the elevator screen).
• Boxten has two UGC Items, those being Boxten's Key and Boxten's Head.
• Boxten is designation SC-004, with the SC most likely standing for Secondary/Side Character.
• Boxten's name could originate from a combination of the name "Boston" and "Box", though it could be a play on the phrase "Boxed In" as well.
• Boxten loves trivia, according to his interaction with Vee.
• Boxten worries a lot. This is pointed out by Poppy in one of their interactions and his interaction with Rodger. Cosmo's and Teagan's interactions with him might also be considered as hinting at Boxten worrying a lot. He also reveals this when speaking to himself.
• Though Poppy and Boxten seem to be good friends, Qwel has said that they have no confirmed relations.
• Boxten might not be very good with grammar, as seen on the note in Boxten's room in Roleplay Mode.
• The key on the back of Boxten's head turns when he's focused, as shown in his animation when extracting and in his interaction with Cosmo.
  • Boxten's key also spins almost rapidly while he is running as a Twisted, likely alluding to this as well.
• Boxten, at a very early point in the game (about one week after the public release) would only receive a 5% extraction speed boost per alive Toon, maxing at 40%.
• Boxten is one of the Toons that has an official merchandise plush as of now, with the others being Astro, Dandy, Pebble, Poppy, Sprout, Shelly, and Vee.
• According to Cosmo's interaction, Boxten has a bit of knowledge with baking.
  • This is further proven during Sprout's interaction with Shelly, saying that Cosmo is teaching Boxten how to bake.
• Other Toons tend to notice Boxten's square head as shown with his interactions with Goob and Looey.
• Boxten, Poppy, Rudie, and Eggson all share the same Stats. (3 for all Stats)
  • However, since Boxten's passive affects himself as well, it allows him to have slightly faster extraction speed than them.
• Boxten (along with Looey) are the only toons that can roughly reach up to 17 Stars without any Cards and Items. Boxten is behind by 0.02% in Extraction Speed and Looey is behind by 6.67% In Walk speed and 20% in Run Speed (Looey gains 20% Movement Speed for every missing)
