Alarm is one of the 55 usable Trinkets found in Dandy's World and is one of the 14 that can be bought from Dandy's Store in the Lobby for 1000
Ichor and surviving 50 Floors.
Appearance
It is a red emergency alarm with a grey base, two white lines (indicating the bulb's internal wires) through the center, and visual representations of noise effects.
Strategy
This Trinket is heavily outclassed by
Vanity Mirror and maybe even the
Speed Candy. Alarm should really only be used if Vanity Mirror has yet to be obtained (or possibly in combination with Vanity Mirror). Considering the price and that it only lasts for 1/3 of Panic Mode at most, there is little reason to use it. However, Alarm provides a walk speed boost (unlike Vanity Mirror), so it could be used to counter the Twisteds' Panic Mode boost.
While there are certainly better options, it does have some unique upsides that may be beneficial (if not optimal) for niche scenarios.
- The speed boost is not conditional on having stamina/whether your run is active, so it will always kick in immediately. This is good if you expect to be lagging (you don't have to try to toggle your run input), close to Twisteds (for example, if distracting
Twisted Toodles as
Goob), or often find yourself too low on stamina to make use of Vanity Mirror, which will depend on how you play. - It provides a more reliable kick if you are caught off-guard by Panic Mode or tend to zone out.
- The walk-speed boost is incredibly significant, so you can spend its active duration regaining stamina while still covering useful amounts of ground.
This Trinket should be avoided during solo and duo runs unless you're playing a short-ranged support as the practice of priming Machines heavily reduces the need for it.
Trivia
- This Trinket was the first ever Trinket to activate in Panic Mode, the second one being
Vanity Mirror and the third being
Whispering Flower. - Alarm functions very similarly to Vanity Mirror, the differences being Alarm grants -5% Run Speed in comparison, only lasts for a certain duration of Panic Mode, but grants Walk Speed as well.
